What is the difference between the developer’s version and the public version of the Overwolf client?

Do I have to use the dev version in order to develop apps?

If you are a developer, it doesn’t mean that you have to work with the Developers version: the developer version just contains new features that are still in beta.

You will have to whitelist yourself before developing OW apps.

BTW, the difference between the developer version and the public version is defined by the channel flag, in the Overwolf installation folder, inside the setupInfo.ini file. (e.g C:\ProgramData\Overwolf\Setup\SetupInfo.ini).

So if you will change this flag from “Regular” to “Developers”, hit the “Update” button and relaunch Overwolf - you will get the Dev version.
